I have a lot of emoticons and Blue Mountain

Written by wannabegeek contributor

Q. I have a lot of emoticons and Blue Mountain content in my MSN account on my computer, if I upgrade to WLM, will I lose any of these?

I've just signed in and I have contacts that I deleted ages ago, where have they come from?

Written by wannabegeek contributor

These contacts are contacts that appear in your address book. When you add a contact, it not only adds it in the Messenger program, but also in your address book. You will be able to notice these contacts as the picture next to them will look like an address book: Non-Messenger contact. You can either delete these, or if they are contacts that you only email, you can set your contact list to filter them out. To do this, go to the contact list window and click on Contacts > Filter Contacts > Messenger Contacts Only.

If I get any problems with Live Messenger, are there any places I can leave feedback

Written by wannabegeek contributor

There are three places you can leave your feedback.

1. Leave a comment on the MessengerSays Blog;
2. For normal feedback/suggestions/likes and dislikes, go to http://feedback.live.com/ and click on Messenger.
3. For support problems, like unable to sign in, go to http://support.live.com/ and click on Messenger again.

Is Windows Live Messenger 8 free?

Written by wannabegeek contributor
You might have received an email saying Microsoft will make Messenger a paid service. These emails are 100% fake. When Microsoft releases Windows Live Messenger officially, you will be able to download Windows Live Messenger8 for free.

Is WLM the same as Windows Messenger?

Written by wannabegeek contributor
The new name for MSN Messenger may be a bit confusing. Microsoft has always released two versions of Messenger: MSN Messenger, and Windows Messenger. Windows Messenger was targeted mainly to business users. Windows Live Messenger replaces MSN Messenger, but Windows Messenger (without 'live') will stay as well.

The "What I'm Listening To" feature is really good

Written by wannabegeek contributor

Q.The "What I'm Listening To" feature is really good, but what players are supported by WLM? Are there any more than with MSN 7?

A.There is no new support for any other players at the moment, currently the only two that are natively supported are Windows Media Player and Apple's iTunes. However, there is a plugin for winamp that allows this to be used as well which can be downloaded from http://winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=144799.

What is Windows Live Call? I have seen this in the Messenger program.

Written by wannabegeek contributor
This is a service that allows you to make PC-to-Phone calls, so you can call someone on their mobile phone (for example) right from your Messenger window
